When was the work done?
October 2017.
What was involved?
Expand completely redid our back garden, built a shed, put in corner seating, raised beds, artificial grass and granite paving. They also put up fences, made a storage area for our bins, installed outdoor lighting and covered our outside boiler. They also redid our front garden as well - removed the grass and put gravel down instead. The shed is really more of a garden room, I'd say. It's tiled and painted inside. It's just like another part of the house really.
We have a big, massive slider in the kitchen so we brought the level of the garden up to that so when you walk out it really is like you're still inside the house
How did you choose Expand Building Services?
I've known Neil since he was a kid so I asked him to quote. We asked a few other people to quote as well but Neil's quote was better and he was someone we knew. We also liked that he did everything start to finish and managed the whole budget for us. I just wanted to deal with one person really.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Neil Boyle?
Yes, I had a fair idea of what I wanted. We have a limited space in the backyard so we wanted to keep one corner for where we're going to sit. Then I wanted a shed to put our bikes and tumble dryer in.
Did Neil introduce new ideas?
He was able to suggest things that, maybe we hadn't thought of. All I'll say is that it turned out better than I could have ever thought.
How did the project run?
Well, I'm very particular about this stuff and I couldn't have been happier. They was here everyday and everything was cleaned up impeccably everyday when he left, the place was cleaned and power hosed down. The workmanship was really good - the slabs were all laid perfectly.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Expand Building Services?
It's the flexibility, reliability, and the workmanship really. Anything we asked for, it wasn't a problem. Neil managed the entire project - it was easy to just deal with one person.
What's your favourite part now?
Well, there's a new corner bench that sits about ten people. That and the shed. It just made the garden more functional.
Would you recommend Expand Building Services to others?
Yes, nothing was really too much of an ask from him, he did everything that we asked and more to be honest.
I went to visit one of his references too - he had done two extensions for the couple and it was really good work.
From the way Neil talked, we could see that he knew exactly what he was talking about. His quotation was very good too.
I knew if I wanted to put something new in, Neil wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg.
That trust versus the other builders we met is what we got most from Neil and he proved that throughout the whole project ... it really felt like a partnership.
I found Neil to be so trustworthy. The standard of work was so high that I just knew that he was going to finish everything perfectly.
The biggest benefit was reliability and a sense that you could depend on Neil and believe in what he said.
Nothing was really too much of an ask from Neil. He did everything that we asked and more to be honest.
Neil was reliable, trustworthy, the price was competitive and the work was excellent.
The workmanship was first class..Neil's the sort of person who builds something that he would be happy to have in his own house.
My favourite part is all of it, I just love my whole kitchen! Even now, there's nothing I would change about it.
Neil's very good at his job and is pricing is competitive as well. I trusted Neil and I'm glad I did. He knew exactly what he was doing.
