Completed Ahead of Schedule

Customer reference for REBS as told to pickapro by Aaron Curry from Terenure on 19-Nov-2008

When was the work done?
The work was done between March and May, 2008.

What was involved?
It was quite substantial. It involved the complete gutting of and renovation of a forty or fifty year old council house. Everything inside was redone as well as the plumbing and the electrics. A single storey kitchen extension and patio was built at the back of the house.

How did you choose John McCormack?
I first heard about John when I found them on pickapro website. We had three builders out to speak with us about the job. We went with John because not only was he the most competitive on price but we also felt that we could get on better with him.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to John McCormack?
We pretty much knew what we wanted, yes.

Did John introduce new ideas?
John was good about making suggestions along the way. He was helpful with regards to the layout, the general positioning of things and other practical bits and pieces. John would say things like "have you considered putting this there?" and when we thought about it would often agree that his way made more sense.

How did the project run?
Absolutely fine, no complaints. It was my first experience dealing with a builder so I was a bit skeptical, but I couldn't fault them for anything. We were very happy with the quality of work and how it was done. John was very easy to work with and we never had to chase him around for anything. The people John has working with him are also very good and a pleasure to work with. As far as time, the work was completed way ahead of schedule.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using John McCormack?
The biggest benefit to me was that John was very approachable, easy to work with and I never felt stupid asking any questions. He understood where we were coming from and always gave us straight answers. John made good suggestions about some things that might work better than others but there was never any pressure to go one way or the other.

What's your favourite part now?
The kitchen extension is very impressive but I would have to say that I was pleased with how everything turned out.

Would you recommend John McCormack to others?
I would yes, absolutely.

Any tips for other people?
One thing that I found is that it's very important to get on with the builder doing the work. You need to feel comfortable. Don't be afraid to ask questions even if you think they are stupid,
