Multi-Skilled, Organised, On Time

What was involved?
I’m in the short term property let and property development business and I had a list of things that I needed done - a couple of bathrooms refreshed, some regrouting and just some general interior stuff.

How did you choose Darren?
I found Darren through an online service.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Darren?
Yes, I did. I gave Darren a list of what I wanted and he just worked away.

Did Darren introduce new ideas?
Yes, for example, Darren sugggested that I didn't need to re-grout some of the tiles, that they were fine. I went with his advice and the end result was exceptional.

How did the project run?
Darren exceeded my expectations in terms of what he produced. Two of the bathrooms were very, very neglected and very tired. I was in two minds whether I should replace them but I didn't have to because Darren did such a good job with the re-grouting, cleaning and the restoration. He fixed the box piping, replaced the light fittings and he painted them as well. The bathrooms actually look brand new now.

I gave Darren a week to do the work and he actually did it in four and a half days so he was very fair and upfront about that as well.

Darren was good value for money. He was there at 8 o'clock in the morning and worked away himself.

From start to finish it was an excellent engagement and I have a few more jobs for him. The cleanup was A1, he didn't walk away and leave boxes and stuff to be dumped. He cleaned up perfectly. I was over the moon because I had expected to spend about €5,000 on the bathrooms and I spent about €800 and it just looks so good.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using Darren?
It's very hard to find people who are multi skilled and then you have to get multiple trades in. But Darren seems to be able to do a lot of stuff internally - tiling, grouting, carpentry, painting. I didn't have to get a painter and decorator in, he did all that as well. There was an issue with one of the doors to the balcony which was causing a draught. Darren just came along and fixed it with an allen key. That’s what you want.

Darren's just self motivated and highly experienced. His primary trade is tiling and he's done some very big tiling contracts but he's multi-skilled. Darren is the kind of person that can do everything. He's computer literate as well so we can communicate by email. He is efficient, he's fully organised, he's on time, he’s able to make decisions. I was very happy with him anyway.

Would you recommend Darren to others?
Yes, Darren is definitely a person I would recommend. I'll have him back now to do the hall and the kitchen floor and a few other bits and pieces. He's very good with internal work.
