When was the work done?
The work was started in early March, 2009. What was involved?
I was in the process of refurbishing my house and I had a dining room I wanted to brighten up but didn't know how to go about it. I needed advice on colours, a dining room table and other ideas to brighten the room.
How did you choose Interiors?
I found out about Karen from a friend who had used her services recently. I went with her recommendation because I trust her judgement. I felt that if Karen suited her that she would suit me as well. But I actually didn't want to go and see the work that Karen had done for her in case I ended up choosing something similar.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Karen Tennant?
Yes, we had double doors that we were going to remove and we were also going to knock down a wall leading into another room. Whether that would add additional light into the room we didn't know. I wanted the room to be brighter and I also wanted a round table. The problem was that all the tables I had looked at were too large for the space.
Did Karen introduce new ideas?
Karen looked at the room before structural work had been done so that she could recommend whether or not the changes we had in mind would make the room brighter or not. Colourwise I had no idea what paint to use and needed Karen's advice. As far as the table, Karen told me about a retailer she knew who had a small, round table that would fit nicely in the room. The table was small but could be extended if needed. Karen's recommendations and advice were really worth their weight. Karen doesn't just put something into a room for the sake of it. There needs to be a purpose for everything. That's the way I am, I don't like fluff.
How did the project run?
It was a very straightforward process with Karen. Karen suited me because she is very direct, has a good eye for the budget and is reliable. When you need Karen to get back to you on quotes or anything, she does.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Interiors?
Since I don't have the time myself to visit all the furnishing and interior shops, the biggest benefit for me was Karen knowing exactly what's out there. It saved so much time. Karen was able to recommend particular shops for certain things and show me photographs of what was available. I was absolutely delighted!
What's your favourite part now?
I would have to say the colours that we chose and the table Karen recommended. Both really suit the room so much.
Would you recommend Interiors to others?
I definitely would, yes.
Any tips for other people?
Things like colours, drapes and furnishings don't get decided very quickly, so have an idea beforehand about what you like and dislike. That will save a lot of time.
