Landscaping, Stonework in Blackrock

When was the work done?
October 2012.

What was involved?
It was a major project requiring complete clearance of site, erection of raised flower beds with walls capped with stone, cladding existing fence with teak boards, laying extensive travertine paving with a tumbled granite path linking two terraces. Lawn set at lower level(step down). Erection of custom designed garden shed (encompassing dog shelter) with cedar shingle roof finish. Planting of mature bamboo and olive trees and mondo grass with a mixture of coloured plants whilst retaining an existing tree on the site as a feature.

How did you choose Greenstone Landscapes?
We engaged with three different landscaping companies outling broad requirements and vision for the garden. Ross was very engaged and immediately envisioned what we wanted and committed to revert with 3D drawings within 2 days which he duly did.

Although Ross did not provide the cheapest quotation his design, passion, commitment to using best materials and plants and previous examples of his work he referred us to (on his website) convinced us to go with Greenstone.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Ross Farrell?
We knew more or less what we wanted and were clear on what we didn't whilst being open to expert guidance.

Did Ross introduce new ideas?
Yes - He convinced us to explore using different levels e.g. step down lawn and to incorporate some nice detail in the stonework e.g . capping the raised flower bed walls.

How did the project run?
Very smoothly from start to finish. It was a pleasure to witness Ross, Pearse and Christy transform our garden. They are very committed and skilled workers who were clearly enjoying their work.

The quality of the stonework and shed build were exceptional. They were very tidy and were very unobtrusive to ourselves and our neighbours during the 5 week project.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using Greenstone Landscapes?
Peace of mind and confidence that project was on track at all times. Ross kept us fully informed of progress and discussed in advance any proposed deviations from plans that required extra spend.

What's your favourite part now?
Looking forward to next summer to make full use of the terraces to capture whatever sunshine we get! Looking out from the house we get feeling we have got a new room and enjoy looking at the bamboo plants set against the teak fencing.

Would you recommend Greenstone Landscapes to others?
Yes without hesitation - especially if you require stonework.

Any tips for other people?
Have a well thought out idea of what you want or like but be open to suggestions for improvement from experts.
