Extensive Home Renovation

The architect recommended Michael to us...Michael arranged for all the contractors and oversaw the project.

Customer reference from John Barnes, Ranelagh, Dublin 6

When was the work done?
The work was done in 2010.

What was involved?
With the help of our architect, Michael was basically in charge of extensively renovating our house. It was a full overhaul and work was carried out in every room. All of the windows in the house were changed, the loft was converted into a bedroom and shower room and one of the bedrooms was converted into a study and gallery.

How did you choose Hogan And Associates?
The architect recommended Michael to us. It was quite serendipitous because we had been inspired by a loft conversion down the road and Michael just happened to have been involved with that project as well.

Had you definite ideas in mind before the project began?
We knew what we wanted and went through those ideas with the architect.

Did Michael introduce new ideas?
He did, yes. One of Michael's ideas that was particularly good was that of removing a section of ceiling in the upstairs passage and installing a skylight above it, which has greatly increased the amount of light there. Another example of Michael going the extra mile was a set of parliament hinges that he specially designed to allow double doors leading out to the patio to fold back against the walls. Thus the doors take up virtually no space when they're open. That was very impressive. Michael was very good at taking the initiative and talking us through his ideas for improvements to the original plans.

How did the project run?
Very well. Michael arranged for all the contractors and oversaw the project.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using Hogan And Associates?
The biggest benefits were Michael's communication, flexibility and the standard of the work. Another benefit was being able to make modifications as the work was being carried out.

What's your favourite part now?
I'm happy with how it all turned out.

Would you recommend Hogan And Associates to others?
Yes I would and I've done so already.

Any tips for other people?
Don't go it alone with a large scale project, definitely get an architect involved. In our case it was money well spent.
