Bathroom Renovation - Hugely Professiona

What was involved?
I had my whole bathroom renovated. I had all the bath, toilet and sink taken out and replaced, the floor boards removed and the joists treated for woodworm and new chipboard floors laid and covered in lino. I also had the current tiles removed, plaster board installed and the walls tiled. Finally I got a new electric shower installed and got a new toilet in a different bathroom.

How did you choose Alan Doyle?
Using pickapro.ie! I asked three contacts to come and give me a quote and when I reviewed them ATD were the ones I was happiest with in terms of quality and cost. There was extra reassurance in that Tommy offered to show me other jobs they had done and that was very useful in making the decision.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Alan Doyle?
I had a very clear idea about what I wanted but I was open to suggestions.

Did Alan and Tommy introduce new ideas?
They came up with a number of very good suggestions that helped neaten the job and improve the finish, e.g. they laid a strip of mosaic tiles vertically instead of horizontally to prevent it looking dated. They also really improved the way the pipes fed into the additional toilet which improved the appearance significantly.

How did the project run?
The whole thing ran like clockwork - in fact it finished way quicker than I thought - 3 days for a massive amount of work. The guys were 100% punctual and I had loads of dealings with Tommy in advance - coming to see the room and bringing me to see his other projects and he was amazing. They were very neat and I was very happy with the finish.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using Alan Doyle?
They did exactly what they said they would do and did it to an extremely high standard and at a reasonable cost. I had previously used builders who did a terrible job and let me down very badly. My faith in trademen has been restored after this project. Tommy describes their team as people who do it right and that is what they did for me.

What's your favourite part now?
The whole thing really. It looks clean and modern and having two toilets that can actually flush is brilliant!

Would you recommend Alan Doyle to others?
Absolutely. Tommy and Alan and their colleague were hugely professional, efficient and basically very nice people. This reassurance was exactly what I needed and I wasn't disappointed. I have already recommended them to people I know.

Any tips for other people?
I would use the model of getting 3 quotes but don't base your decision completely on cost - you have to have confidence and a good feeling about the people you are letting into your home. Ask to see examples of previous jobs. The new bath, toilet and sink I got were slightly smaller than the ones I had previously and it made the room look way bigger.
