When was the work done?
The work was done in late summer, 2011. What was involved?
It's an old house down in the country which had belonged to my parents and I wanted to keep it as well as I could.
The roof really needed to be done, it hadn't been roofed in probably 41 years. We had old velux windows that my parents would have installed donkeys years ago and they were causing seepage down the walls downstairs.
Clancon built a new insulated roof, did slating, put in velux windows, insulated the while house and replastered a ceiling upstairs. The damp is gone now and I'm delighted, its a different house now
How did you choose Clancon Build?
I found out about Anthony from word of mouth and then I looked him up on the internet. I chose him because they are thorough, they come on time, he doesn't overestimate anything and everything is done on budget, Anthony has a keen eye and there was no mess afterwards. The place was left immaculate.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Anthony Clancy?
I knew I had problems in certain areas that needed to be addressed but I wanted an expert to take a look and let me know what needed to be done.
Did Anthony introduce new ideas?
Anthony took a look at the house, made suggestions and we went from there.
How did the project run?
With some builders they say that they'll be out by a certain date and time, then they turn up late or not at all, then you're overcharged. With Anthony there was none of that.
They did an excellent job, very thorough. I was in a panic because of the weather while they were roofing but the roof was all done in roughly 3 weeks.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Clancon Build?
Peace of mind. I just knew that the job would be done properly. I didn't have to worry about workers turning up or not turning up. Anthony is quick, clean, intelligent, he knows what he's doing and is always on time. The workmanship was excellent.
What's your favourite part now?
The roof - it's been restored perfectly.
Would you recommend Clancon Build to others?
I would highly recommend Anthony.
Any tips for other people?
If you get a reputable builder like Anthony in, get him to take a look and listen to what he has to say. He knows what he's talking about and he has good ideas, some of which I hadn't thought of.
