When was the work done?
The work was carried out in October and November of 2011. What was involved?
I live in Galway but I have an apartment in Dublin that was flood damaged and needed a complete refurbishment. Andrew took everything out and redid the apartment. He took up the old floors and cleaned and repaired under the floorboards, refitted the bathroom including the plumbing and tiling and repainted the apartment.
How did you choose Polaris Builders?
I found Andrew on the Pickapro website. I liked the testimonials that I read about Andrew and decided to ring him. I contacted three builders in total to get quotes from but Andrew stood out because he just seemed so interested in the job. Andrew wasn't like some builders who are in such a rush to get away, he gave my husband 100% of his attention. In the end we didn't chase down the other two quotes because Andrew seemed like the obvious choice due to his level of interest.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Andrew Rudenko?
I did, yes but I was interested in hearing what ideas Andrew had.
Did Andrew introduce new ideas?
Andrew gave me a lot of good advice, for instance, there had been a bath in the bathroom and andrew advised going with a shower instead. The flat had a damp smell and Andrew discovered that the plasterboard had been damaged from the flood. He replaced it and the smell was gone.
How did the project run?
I couldn't believe how reliable Andrew was because it's not normal. Andrew gave me a thorough walkthrough with prices and explained everything, he didn't just pull a number out of the sky. Andrew also took me down to the suppliers where they have the tiles and when I wasn't sure about what I wanted, he took me to another shop. He was just so helpful that way. Andrew really bended over backwards for me. His workmanship was brilliant and the work was completed within the time that Andrew told me that it would be.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Polaris Builders?
I suppose the biggest benefit was that I felt I could trust him and he never let me down once. Like I said, I live in Galway but the apartment is in Dublin. I trusted Andrew so much that I just gave him the keys and I didn't have the slightest bit of worry. Whenever I rang Andrew he ansewered the phone, anytime I needed him to do something he did it.
What's your favourite part now?
To be honest, the whole thing is great, everything was perfect.
Would you recommend Polaris Builders to others?
Absolutely yes, totally. I would be delighted to recommend Andrew.
Any tips for other people?
Before giving the work to any one person and hoping for the best, talk to a few people and discuss the project with them to see what kind of ideas they have.
