Good Suggestions for Extension

What was involved?
A full width, open plan, kitchen/dining extension to the rear of the house with a new bathroom and utility room. Upstairs we converted the attic into an extra room with an ensuite. O' Flaherty Construction also renovated our main bathroom.

How did you choose O' Flaherty Construction?
About 4 different people recommended Pat to me when I said I was looking for a builder! We both live in Palmerstown and I'd never heard of Pat before this job but suddenly he kept cropping up in conversation. I got about 4 different quotes and O' Flaherty Construction weren't the cheapest or the dearest, they were in the middle. Really, I liked that Pat was very easy to talk to and he had good suggestions. He seemed the most knowledgeable and that put me more at ease.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Pat O' Flaherty?
Yes, I had ideas for everything.

Did Pat introduce new ideas?
Yes, I might want something but not know how best to do it. Pat worked on my ideas and came up with the proper way of doing them. For example, we were adding a new downstairs toilet and I'd thought we'd have to put the door opening into the kitchen/dining room. Pat showed me how we could put the door into the hallway which worked out a lot better.

How did the project run?
Great. The whole lot of them were here at the same time every morning and they were all able to work away on their own. They protected all the surfaces and they cleaned up everything every day. We stayed in the house all the time and I'd heard beforehand all the horror stories about how you don't have running water or a kitchen for weeks on end. Pat set up a temporary kitchen for us in the old dining room so I had a sink, a cooker and a dishwasher. And we were very happy with the workmanship and how it turned out.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using O' Flaherty Construction?
It was easy going and friendly. It didn't feel awkward. They'd come in and we'd go off to work. I never felt worried about leaving them in the house- we could trust them and they respected our privacy.

What's your favourite part now?
It would have to be the kitchen!

Yes, I would, definitely. Pat was so good.
