When was the work done?
In Summer 2019. What was involved?
Pat extended the rear of our house and added a new bedroom, disability bathroom and utility room.
How did you choose O Flaherty Construction?
We had plans drawn up by an architect and they did suggest some names of builders but I didn't want to go with someone I didn't know at all. I knew Pat from seeing him around the area and he had done work for my neighbour across the road. She said, Pat did the work for her 20 years ago and she never had to get him back! We didn't get a grant so we had to be careful about costs. Pat gave us a very good price. He did everything that was on the plans and he did a great job.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Pat O' Flaherty?
Yes, the architect had made excellent plans - they were very precise and they included everything we needed. Did Pat introduce new ideas?
Yes, he did. We couldn't be there at all during the day so Pat had a free run of the place. I told him that "Pat, I really don't need phone calls or anything like that, just do what has to be done" and he did. He just did everything that he knew we needed without bothering me unless he really had to. It was just great for us to have someone that we could trust.
How did the project run?
We were delighted. Pat cleaned every day and he really did his best for us and our budget. I had really nice porcelain tiles in the kitchen and he actually managed to knock down the external wall without breaking any of them! The carpenter with Pat was great too. He rearranged all our kitchen presses so we didn't have to buy new ones.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using O Flaherty Construction?
That I could trust him. Just to be able to let him come and go. Pat knew what we needed and he did it. For example, I ordered a new oven and they just put it in for me. They did all little extra things without charging us or anything extra.
Would you recommend O Flaherty Construction to others?
Yes, absolutely. Pat was the best ever. Actually, my friend has already used Pat's tiler on my recommendation.
