When was the work done?
It was started in April 2019 and finished in June 2019. What was involved?
It was a 25 square foot kitchen/dining room extension at the rear of our house which included a new utility room.
How did you choose PKBuilder?
We found PKBuilder on pickapro. It was an big job so we did a large number of quotes. But we just liked the vibe of Pawel. He came across just as a decent person, and his rates were reasonable enough compared to other people as well.
He wasn't the cheapest, but obviously you don't want to go too cheap. It was a reasonable quote from our own research and calculations.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Pawel Korytkowski?
Yes. Well, we had a lot of the ideas ourselves. For example, I thought that a graded roof with velux windows would be the best way to get light into the extension throughout the day and actually Pawel said the same thing himself without any prompting from me. We were just on the same page with things. It wasn't an overly complicated design. We drew it by hand ourselves.
Did Pawel introduce new ideas?
Yes, he was very proactive. If he didn't think something was a good idea, he'd let us know. He was very proactive as well in getting a few bits and pieces done like getting extra wiring done for the alarm. That saved us money in the long run because we didn't have to go back in and get someone to wire the whole extension again.
How did the project run?
We were actually on honeymoon for the majority of the work. But Pawel was really brilliant. Before, we'd even touched down from our first flight, he'd sent us pictures and an update. Pawel really kept us up to date throughout the whole thing.
Everything was done according to plan. He actually finished ahead of schedule thanks to the good weather. There was a delay in finishing the kitchen but that was nothing to do with Pawel. He was actually waiting around for the people to come into the kitchen
Reliability-wise, he was always here on time. And he was very good at clean up. I was very happy with the workmanship too.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using PKBuilder?
Because we were away for a month during the work. the biggest benefit is that he kept in contact and kept us up to date, We didn't have to worry at any point whether it was all OK. We found him very reliable and he would send on pictures or he'd send on different ideas. We signed a contract beforehand and he stuck to it. He wasn't going for extra costs and all of that. Pawel was a very genuine person and very honorable in how he did his business.
Pawel was very good to work with, even with dealing with our neighbors. There was some issues at the start with the boundary wall. Pawel went in and had a chat with the neighbours and sorted everything out there as well.
What's your favourite part now?
The new space has opened up everything for us. There is just so much light as well. It's a lovely sitting area now. Would you recommend PKBuilder to others?
I have already. He started a job at a friend of mine's house already.
Any tips for other people?
Just get as many quotes as you can. You get different ideas from people as well.
